KU women’s basketball drops regular-season finale at No. 19 Iowa State

Despite staying within single digits for 33 of the game’s 40 minutes, the Kansas women’s basketball team couldn’t close out an upset over No. 19 Iowa State in a 69-49 loss Monday night at Hilton Coliseum.

The Jayhawks (12-17, 2-16 Big 12) were led by senior Christalah Lyons with 13 points, tying her season-best mark of seven rebounds. Senior Austin Richardson contributed 11 points and eight rebounds, and freshman Aniya Thomas added 11 points.

Iowa State (23-7, 13-5) had four double-digit scoring performances on the night. Senior Bridget Carleton led the Cyclones with 20 points and 11 rebounds, while sophomore Kristin Scott added 12 points and 14 rebounds. Freshman Ashley Joens and sophomore Madison Wise registered 13 points and 11 points, respectively.

The Jayhawks will travel to Oklahoma City for the Big 12 Championship this weekend.
