Van Go apprentice artists display their handpainted birdbaths during the art auction for Van Go’s annual fundraiser “What Floats Your Boat?” on June 18 at Clinton Marina. More than 650 guests attended with proceeds going toward Van Go’s programming. Van Go is a nonprofit that provides arts-focused job-training to at-risk youth, ages 14-21, in Lawrence.

Mike Treanor of Treanor Architects holds his “What Floats Your Boat?” sponsor trophy from the June 18 event at Clinton Marina. Treanor Architects was this year’s largest sponsor, earning the title “Titan of the Lake.” Van Go executive director Lynne Green, is pictured in the background. Central National Bank, another WFYB sponsor, earned the title “Captain of the Ship.”

Deana Sage, Perry, won the 2011 Outstanding Junior Member Contest for the Kansas Daughters of the American Revolution. She also attended the 113th KS DAR State Conference from April 28 to May 1 in Topeka and the 120th Continental Congress from June 27 to July 3 in Washington, D.C.
