Letter to the editor: Marshall’s habit of doing nothing
To the editor:
Roger Marshall’s career in the Senate is one of doing nothing.
In the face of an illegal trade policy that has caused a billion dollars of harm to Kansas farmers, he did nothing.
In the face of an ego-driven, unauthorized war in Iran that has — so far — cost nearly two dozen American lives, nearly 900 wounded, untold damage to our bases and to the cities of our friends and allies, over 40 billion dollars and our reputation in the region, he did nothing.
In the face of a bullying foreign policy that has cost us our reputation with our friends and allies in the rest of the world, he did nothing.
In the face of the most dramatic graft and corruption in our history, he did nothing.
In the face of an unapologetic and illegal assault on freedom of speech and freedom of the press, he did nothing.
In the face of a merciless and illegal attack on people of color — executed against our cultural institutions, our national parks, our legal immigrants, and our very history — he did nothing.
I watched Roger Marshall in the Kansas State Fair debate. His stock response to the thoughtful questions from professional journalists was to dodge them, and he was booed for it.
Roger Marshall has disgraced Kansas; he has disgraced himself.
On Nov. 3, we should end this sorry chapter and send him back to his home … in Florida.
