To the editor:

Amidst all of the wonderment that includes unchecked executive actions, military-led foreign resource grabs, threats to sovereign allies, and a domestic masked paramilitary force operating with relative immunity, I’ve observed many leading media outlets contemplating the president’s low “ratings” and his party’s likelihood of losing this year’s midterm elections. They wonder why the president and his party don’t seem to be course-correcting. Let’s not lose sight of what happened on Jan. 6, 2021; we have to be ready for this year’s midterms to be obstructed, delayed or the results otherwise not accepted. In normal times, underwater ratings would have already resulted in course corrections. These are not normal times.
