Letter to the editor: Outrage everywhere
To the editor,
I was listening to a news interview a few days ago. The interviewee remarked that he was surprised that there hadn’t been enough OUTRAGE about something our president or his administration had done. I was stunned. I have been in a perpetual state of OUTRAGE for months. Pick an issue, any issue: OUTRAGE. What does one have to do to get the attention of our senators and representatives? I write letters and get no response. I send money to various organizations to help them fight oppressive policies. I walk in all the rallies, along with millions of others. Since these rallies are peaceful, they don’t count, I suppose, as OUTRAGE. Perhaps our politicians quietly agree that things have gone too far, but they don’t yet have quite “enough” of the spoils of power. One of these days, hopefully, they will decide that they have “enough” and will take a stand against something. One or more of them may experience a moment of conscience, check their bank account to be sure it is well-padded, and say “enough is enough,” at least once. I am writing this letter to the editor to officially register my OUTRAGE against the actions and policies of this administration, and to ask our elected senators and representatives to DO SOMETHING, starting with seating the duly elected representative from Arizona so that she can vote, prohibiting the bombing of boats from Venezuela in international waters, protesting the taking away of funding that Congress has already allocated, rewriting history … etc.
