Letter to the editor: Remember the admonition to not speak evil of a ruler

Dear Editor:

Michael Gerson’s passionate hatred for President Trump reached a new level when he lamented that Republican senators missed an opportunity to put Vice President Pence into that position if they would have supported the House’s impeachment decision. It seems strange to be thinking “what ifs,” since they don’t change anything. Or, is Gerson suggesting something more sinister when he suggests Pence would be a better replacement for the President? Gerson’s is the most prominent of the many Journal-World columnists who are critical of the President irregardless of what he does. However, none compare to Gerson’s hatred of anything Trump. I wonder what Gerson thinks about the Old and New Testament Biblical admonitions to not speak evil of a ruler? One has to wonder how Gerson will deal with his hatred if President Trump is reelected.
