To the editor:

My Fellow Americans:

Whether or not you agree that abortion should be legalized; whether or not you agree that Jews will replace you; whether or not you agree that windmills cause cancer or that climate change is a hoax or that Chicago is a war zone; whether or not you voted for Donald J. Trump … now that Trump has posted on social media that the U.S. will start testing its nuclear weapons again, there is something that we must all agree on: This cannot be allowed to happen.

As a reminder: Nuclear weapons are bad. Nuclear fallout is lethal. Radioactive uranium burns and causes mutations and has a half-life of billions of years.

Republican or Democrat, Independent or Progressive, Socialist or Capitalist or Green, we must stand united against this most reckless, misguided and terrifying move on the part of a man so greedy for power that he will utterly destroy the earth to prove that he has it. We must work together to stop him. After that, we can go back to our corners and take up our causes again.
