Letter to the editor: Reality versus wishful thinking

To the editor:

Eleanor Roosevelt once said, “Wishful thinking is one of our besetting sins.”

“We’re creating our own reality,” Trump (the prevaricator-in-chief) and his minions claim when they say something that is demonstrably untrue. For example,

l Tariffs are not taxes on American consumers

l Using unsecured messaging apps such as Signal for planning military strikes is not a risk to our soldiers, marines, airmen and sailors carrying out such missions

l Social Security is paying benefits to thousands of dead people

l Thousands of federal workers are being dismissed for “poor performance”

l DOGE is not a government agency, but it does have a right to access your sensitive personal information

Here’s a news flash: Reality always trumps wishful thinking in the end; you could say that reality will bite you on the (rhymes with Trump).
