Letter to the editor: Incorrect conclusions
To the editor:
Two letters in your Nov. 13 edition need correcting. Mike Everett states “… the people of America overwhelmingly elected Donald Trump.” Actually, Trump won by only the slimmest margin of any modern election. The result is actually within the margin of error. Nearly 50% of Americans voted for Harris. Sad to say, but if she was a white male, she might be the president-elect today.
Over 775,000 American jobs have been added during the Biden administration and those workers are better off today. I am no wild-eyed liberal; I was elected to three terms on the Republican ticket in another state. I can’t countenance any religious person, regardless of faith, voting for a convicted felon who tried to prevent a peaceful transition of power and stole a roomful of secret documents.
Mona Charen has a law degree and lives in D.C. Kissan Joseph wondered if she lived in an alternative universe. Mrs. Charen was accurate in her description. I confess to making lots of money in real estate and even more in the recent runup in the stock market. But, the reasons are not those given in the letter. Bond agencies know Trump will be borrowing lots of money, and big business knows he will relax health, safety and environmental regulations, thus boosting their profits and causing a runup instock prices. Short-term stockholder gains are placed ahead of the sustainability of our planet!
