Letter to the editor: Crime going unpunished

To the editor:

Almost daily the Journal-World has a story regarding charges being dropped or drastically downgraded to probation due to a “lack of evidence.” It seems the previous district attorney got a lot more convictions and the punishments were more in line with the severity of the crime. Virtually the same police department gathering evidence and yet we are to believe that for some reason they are not gathering enough evidence now. It sickens me to see criminals going unpunished. I don’t believe District Attorney Suzanne Valdez is doing an adequate job.
