Letter to the editor: Not Christian
To the editor:
I’m an atheist. But sometimes, it’s useful to view the world from the perspective of a fundamentalist Christian. If you believe an infallible God created only two genders, man or woman, from conception to death, how do you respond to the existence of trans children? Are they confused or groomed to fit into a specific peer group, or do they actually choose to be outcast? Maybe they are gaming the system.
Clearly more than two-thirds of our Kansas legislators did not take sufficient time to understand the science behind gender development, ask experts, or listen to trans children and their parents talk about their very personal and often painful experiences. In this case those who make our laws allowed their fundamentalist beliefs to take precedence over their Christian values.
