Letter to the editor: Fill the seats

To the editor:

In the Nov. 8 election our county voted to add two additional county commissioners. The vote resulted in 61% yes and 39% no. We now have five positions with only three filled. The majority of the votes show this was an important issue for our county. A special election can be held to fill these two positions now.

I have attended County Commission meetings recently, and the commissioners have been asked repeatedly to have a special election to fill the two new County Commission positions now. I am very disappointed in the response and decisions made by the present commissioners to wait two years until the 2024 general election to do this.

Knowing our county has some huge decisions to make in the upcoming days regarding rural impacts of industrial wind and solar energy. I am asking for a moratorium on any industrial wind and solar decision until all five county commissioners are seated.
