Lee Newman

Baldwin City — Funeral services for Lee Newman, 94, of Baldwin City, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, Baldwin City. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery.
Mr. Newman died Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010, at the Harbor House of Memory Care in Lawrence.
He was born Feb. 20, 1915, in Tyrone, Okla., the son of Annie Carson and Noah Newman.
Mr. Newman was a former member of the Baldwin City Council and the Palmyra Township Board, a past member of the IOOF Lodge and the past president of the former Commercial Club. He attended the 1st United Methodist Church in Baldwin City. He worked as a Standard Oil agent for more than 28 years.
He married Dorothy Hemming on March 1, 1945, in Baldwin City. She preceded him in death Nov. 1, 2008.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, George, William and John Newman; and two sisters, Vera Ulrich and Doris Norwood.
Survivors include his daughter, Rosalee Ulrich, of Denver; a son, Donald Earl Newman, of Renton, Wash.; a sister, Mary Hutcherson, of Overland Park; four grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
The family will meet friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
