Services for Mei Hwa “Joyce” Peng, 46, Lawrence, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.Mrs. Peng died Saturday, Sept. 24, 2005, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.She was born Aug. 19, 1959, in Hsing Zhu, Taiwan, the daughter of Yar-Yun and Jin-Lan Hsiao Yu. She graduated from Zhu Tung High School in 1980 and from Taipei Institute of Technology in 1982. She moved to Kansas in 1984.Mrs. Peng and her family owned and managed the Panda Garden and Plum Tree restaurants, which opened in 1986 and 1989, respectively. She was active in the Lawrence Christian community and volunteered at Hillcrest School and Veritas Christian School. She was a member of Emmanuel Chinese Baptist Church in Lenexa.She married Wen Ching “Gene” Peng in 1982. He survives, of the home.Other survivors include her parents, Taipei, Taiwan; two sons, Raymond Peng and Steven Peng, both of Lawrence; two brothers, Shao-Hwa Yu, Kao-shung, Taiwan, and Jan-Hwa Yu, Taipei; three sisters, I-Ping Yu, Hu-Pei, China, Hsin-Hwa Yu, Taipei, and Sarah Yu, Branchburg, N.J.Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from noon until the service hour.The family suggests memorials to the Steven Peng Educational Fund, sent in care of the funeral home.Online condolences may be sent at www.rumsey-yost.com.
