Topeka man charged in crash that killed infant

Topeka — A Topeka man was charged in connection with a two-car collision last week that killed an infant and injured three others, prosecutors said Monday.

Troy A. Vsetecka, 51, was charged with involuntary manslaughter, aggravated battery, leaving the scene of an accident, aggravated battery, aggravated endangering a child, among other charges, Shawnee County District Attorney Mike Kagay said in a news release.

Investigators said Vsetecka was speeding and driving the wrong way on a Topeka street on March 30 when he collided with another vehicle at an intersection. Vsetecka attempted to flee the scene on foot but he was chased by officers and taken into custody after he tried to hide in a nearby residence, prosecutors said.
