State Treasurer Lynn Rogers will be traveling to Douglas County on Thursday to continue his statewide Unclaimed Property Tour, meeting with Kansans and reuniting them with their cash and property, according to a news release Wednesday from his office.
Unclaimed property can be any financial asset that its owner has not claimed or has not had any owner-generated activity for a specific period of time. Unclaimed property is not real estate, Rogers has noted.
“Reuniting Kansans with their money is one of my favorite parts of this job,” Rogers said recently. “Our team is working hard and developing creative ways to get more unclaimed property back in the pockets of Kansans, (and) that includes city and municipal governments.”
Rogers has said that there’s more than $400 million in the state’s unclaimed property fund.
Rogers will host unclaimed property search events in Eudora, Baldwin City and Lawrence:
