Staff from Collision Leaders donate school supplies to Sunflower Elementary School on Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2026.

Collision Leaders of Lawrence donated over $1,000 worth of school supplies to Sunflower Elementary School.

Several employees from the auto body and repair shop stopped by Sunflower Elementary on Wednesday afternoon to donate boxes of paper as well as backpacks with pencils, notebooks, two-pocket folders, markers, pencil boxes and water bottles.

“We try to give back to the community,” Gary Carbaugh, general manager at Collision Leaders, said. “They entrust us with their second largest investment being their cars, and we just wanted to find a way to give back where we can.”

Carbaugh said employees and the company came together to make the donation possible, with individual staff members contributing anywhere from $5 to several hundred dollars. Altogether, it has amounted to over $1,000 worth of school supplies.

The school supplies purchased with the donations were selected based on recommendations from staff at Sunflower Elementary.

“We have got a small fortune of things that we’ve gathered throughout our company that we’d like to present to the school today,” Carbaugh said. ” … We’ve got everything from pencils, to backpacks, to copy paper to teacher items for teachers to help them be successful in their career. Just everything that we can think of that might help out.”
