Lawrence High School’s principal sent a note to staff and student families Monday alerting them to a “safety concern” and a student who is being investigated, but provided almost no other information about the incident.

The principal, Quentin Rials, wrote that school resource officers were at Lawrence High School and Billy Mills Middle School “while gathering information about this report.”

“Throughout the day everyone on both campuses remained safe,” Rials wrote, adding that “if you or your student have a safety concern, please report it to us at school.”

The Journal-World has reached out to the Lawrence school district for more details about the safety concern and the apparently ongoing investigation of the student, whose school was not identified in Rials’ letter.
