Lawrence school board members will meet on Tuesday for a “board retreat” to complete the board’s annual self-evaluation along with the board’s operating procedures.

The board assesses how well it operates internally at least once a year, using agreed-upon standards developed with input from all members. This evaluation will identify strengths and areas for improvement, and results will guide the board in setting goals and priorities for the following year.

The meeting will also include three executive sessions with the first two sessions to “discuss matters which would be deemed privileged in the attorney-client relationship under KOMA” and the last one for the purpose of evaluating the superintendent, according to the agenda. There will be no action to follow either of the sessions.

Board special meetings and retreats generally do not include public comment, a school district spokesperson told the Journal-World, and there will be no public comment on Tuesday. The board will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the Facilities and Operations building, 711 E 23rd St.
