Lawrence school district students will put their talents on display this weekend at the Lied Center.
The ninth annual Ovation! talent show, set for 7 p.m. Sunday, will showcase a variety of students performers, including instrumentalists, dancers, aerialists, vocalists and more.
Some of the featured performers include award-winning pianist Matthew Liu, Lawrence Virtual School senior; violinist Harrison Leiszler, freshman at Free State High School; Lawrence Ballet Theatre, with members representing Lawrence High School, Free State High School and Southwest Middle School; and The Galway Girls, who will be performing Irish step dance. Aleisha Lohfeld, Free State High School junior and Amelia Lohfeld, Free State High School freshman, were born in Galway, Ireland, and moved to Lawrence in 2018.
Participants in the show were selected through an audition and will present their talents on the main stage of the Lied Center, 1600 Stewart Drive. Brian Hanni, the Voice of the Jayhawks, will be the master of ceremonies.
Proceeds from Ovation! will support the Lawrence Schools Foundation, which provides support for learning, teaching and various educational initiatives. Tickets for the event are $15 for adults and $5 for students and can be purchased at lied.ku.edu or at the Lied Center Ticket Office, either in person or by phone.
