The Lawrence school board will hold a special meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 21, to receive an update from the Kansas Association of School Boards about the search for a permanent superintendent.

The school district announced the special meeting in an email on Wednesday evening. It said that the meeting would be at 6 p.m. Tuesday at district offices, 110 McDonald Drive, and would not provide an opportunity for public comments.

As the Journal-World has reported, the board selected the Kansas Association of School Boards in November to help with the district’s superintendent search.

The email from the district on Wednesday said that representatives from the Kansas Association of School Boards held focus groups this week with school staff, parents and community members, and that a survey would be open through Friday where the public could give input on the qualities and characteristics they would like to see in the district’s next superintendent.
