The Lawrence public school district is hosting one more forum for members of the public to speak directly with Interim Supt.Jeanice Swift about the future of the district.

The district’s final community conversation is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 19 at West Middle School. During the event, participants will have the opportunity to share thoughts on the district’s strengths, areas for improvement, and key priorities as the district plans for the year ahead.

Attendees also can fill out a more detailed survey about the district. That survey also will be made available to people who are unable to attend the forum. The deadline to fill out the survey is Dec. 20.

Swift previously held conversations at each of the Lawrence middle schools, which are spread throughout the community. Swift plans to share a formal report with the Lawrence school board in January or February that highlights her findings from the public feedback.

In addition to Tuesday’s forum, community groups can request that Swift come speak with their groups during the course of the year. Other district administrators and school principals will also be doing outreach with their departments, staff, site councils and school communities, the district said.

Community members can fill out the survey and groups can sign up to host a community conversation at www.usd497.org/superintendent.
