The Lawrence school board will meet on Monday at the school district offices, 110 McDonald Dr.

Kids can get prepared for the upcoming school year with school supplies, haircuts, shoe giveaways and more next week at the Lawrence Schools Foundation’s Kids Expo.

The free event is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, in the parking lot of the Lawrence school district offices, 110 McDonald Drive. According to the Lawrence Schools Foundation’s social media, more than 35 businesses and organizations are participating in the event, which will offer kids free shoes, backpacks, school supplies, screenings and haircuts by appointment.

There will also be food, games and activities at the Kids Expo, including live music and inflatables provided by the University of Kansas athletic department. The Lawrence Police Department, Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical and the Lawrence Public Library’s book truck will also take part.
