A woman suffered critical injuries on Tuesday after a two-vehicle crash occurred just north of Lawrence, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash was reported to dispatchers after noon on Tuesday at the intersection of U.S. Highways 24-59 and 24-40. A social media post from the department said the 32-year-old Lee Summit, Missouri, woman was driving a Lincoln sedan and turning south at the intersection from U.S. Highway 24-40, North 1800 Road. The car was struck by a northbound semitrailer that was heading toward Midland Junction.
The post said medics transported the woman to a Topeka-area hospital with critical injuries.
