A 21-year-old Texas man is being held on a $500,000 bond in the Douglas County Jail after being charged with two sex crimes involving children.

The man, Dominik Jamal Smith, of Irving, Texas, made his first court appearance Wednesday before Judge Amy Hanley, who appointed defense attorney Michael Clarke to represent him and kept his bond set at half a million dollars. Smith will appear in court again on Jan. 28 before Judge Stacey Donovan for further scheduling.

Smith was charged in December 2025 with electronic solicitation of a child under the age of 14 and sexual exploitation of a child between 14 and 18 years old. Both offenses are alleged to have occurred three years ago, in January 2023, in Douglas County.

Smith was arrested on a warrant Tuesday afternoon. The Journal-World has reached out to local law enforcement regarding the circumstances of the arrest.
