Drivers were rerouted and experienced significant delays on Tuesday afternoon while driving on Sixth Street after a car hit a telephone pole.

The woman driving the car was “apparently distracted” and hit the telephone pole in front of Econo Lodge near Crestline, according to a social media post from the Lawrence Police Department. The pole wasn’t stable after the crash and officers had to shut down the eastbound lanes for about 2 hours, beginning around 2:30 p.m. while Evergy crews stabilized the pole.

The driver was taken to the hospital, but she was not seriously injured, the post said.
