The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is now accepting applications for this year’s Citizen’s Academy.
The academy is designed to give participants a working knowledge of the duties and responsibilities of the Sheriff’s Office.
Over the course of seven weeks, academy attendees will receive classroom and hands-on instruction at several different locations. The academy will begin in April and continue into May. Classes will be from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursdays (dinner included). Two sessions will be all day on Saturdays, April 18 and May 2 (lunch included).
Douglas County residents 18 and older are encouraged to apply, sheriff’s spokesman George Diepenbrock said.
To apply, fill out the application at tr.ee/DGSOCitizens or on the Citizen’s Academy page at DGSO.org.
Applications will be accepted through Feb. 28. Notifications of acceptance will likely occur the week of March 9.
