A 36-year-old man who was arrested Saturday in Lawrence on suspicion of burglary and aggravated arson was charged Monday with four felonies and two misdemeanors.
Michael Lenoy Hodges, whose address is listed as “transient” in the Douglas County Jail booking log, was arrested shortly after 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Joe’s Kwik Mart at 2330 Iowa St.
On Monday he was charged with one count of arson related to a Dec. 16, 2025, incident in the 1700 block of West 24th Street and one count of arson related to a Jan. 28 incident in the 2200 block of West 26th Street. Both incidents involve damage to an apartment.
He is also charged with two counts of residential burglary connected with those apartments, one misdemeanor count of criminal trespass on Dec. 11, 2025, in the 2300 block of Ridge Court, and one misdemeanor count of criminal trespass on Jan. 29 in the 2300 block of West 26th Street.
Hodges was taken into custody Saturday following a joint investigation by Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical investigators and Lawrence police detectives. Investigators said the alleged crimes took place at three separate apartment complexes involving four vacant dwelling units and two laundry rooms. Damage estimates were not available Monday.
The investigation remains ongoing, according to a news release from LDCFM, and additional charges may be filed pending further review.
Hodges remained in the Douglas County Jail as of Monday afternoon.
Kansas Department of Corrections records indicate that Hodges served time in prison for two counts of burglary in 2017 in Johnson County.
