A tornado warning has been issued in southern Douglas County by the National Weather Service in Topeka, and it will remain in effect until 9 p.m.

According to the NWS, the tornado warning is for southern Douglas County, northern Franklin County and northeastern Osage County. The warning was issued at 8:09 p.m. after weather radar indicated rotation within a severe thunderstorm. The locations impacted include Baldwin City, Wellsville, Centropolis and Vinland.

The NWS says to take cover now, move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building and avoid windows, if residents live in these areas.
