The motorcyclist who was killed Thursday afternoon after striking a roundabout on Clinton Parkway has been identified as 50-year-old Todd Joseph Rodman.

Witnesses called officers to the accident scene at 4:12 p.m. at the roundabout at Lake Pointe Drive and Clinton Parkway after finding a man and his wrecked 2008 Harley Davidson motorcycle in the roadway. Rodman was taken to a Topeka trauma center, where he was pronounced dead.

Police told the Journal-World on Tuesday that they had no update on the crash investigation, which can take weeks to complete.

Rodman worked at the University of Kansas in Facility Services, according to a coworker who was laying flowers at the accident site Friday. He was an assistant skilled trades supervisor in the plumbing shop. According to information provided by KU, he started working at KU in May 2020 as a plumber. He was promoted to plumber senior in June 2021 and to skilled trade supervisor in January 2022.

Rodman’s was the second fatal motorcycle crash at that intersection this summer. On July 9, a 44-year-old man died at the site. Police said at the time that they believed high speeds played a role in that crash. Officers were notified just before 1 a.m. when a passerby saw the victim — later identified as David Craig Evans, of Gallatin, Tennessee — lying on the south side of the roundabout’s island.
