Lawrence police said this grenade was found behind the drywall n a Lawrence home.

A Lawrence man on Wednesday reported to police that he found a grenade behind some drywall as he was remodeling his home.

Officers responded around 1:30 p.m. to the 900 block of Iowa Street, where the man had the grenade in his truck, according to a police post on social media. Officers cleared the area around the truck and stood by until bomb experts arrived. The grenade appeared to be the type that expels gas and rubber balls, police said. The Leavenworth bomb team took possession of it for proper disposal.
