Overnight gunshots in the area of Sixth Street and Stoneridge Drive early Wednesday morning led to a man being arrested on suspicion of DUI and other crimes.

Officers responded around 1:30 a.m. to the area and found a van with a flat tire and a suspected stolen gun and drugs inside, according to a social media post from the Lawrence Police Department. Officers confiscated a firearm that was reportedly stolen out of Kansas City.

The officers followed a trail of vehicle fluid from the vehicle to determine what caused the flat tire, but the trail ended, the post said.

Officers took a man into custody and are continuing to investigate. According to the Douglas County Jail booking log, Richard Oniel Stampp, 32, of Union Star, Missouri, was arrested in connection with the incident shortly after 1:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Stampp was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy possession of a firearm while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, criminal damage to property, DUI and possession of stolen property.
