After a 70-year-old woman was found stabbed in a residence in the Barker neighborhood in eastern Lawrence on Thursday, police said there was no threat to the public and they did not believe that a crime occurred.

Officers were called to a house just before 1 p.m. in the 700 block of Beatnik Court, where they found the woman suffering from life-threatening injuries, according to a release from the Lawrence Police Department.

The woman was found alone and was unable to provide many details to police before she was taken to an area trauma center by Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical crews, the release said.

A post on the police department’s Facebook page on Thursday evening said police did not believe the incident was criminal in nature, and they were not seeking a suspect.
