Tornado watch issued for Douglas County until 9 p.m.
The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for Douglas County and many other Kansas counties until 9 p.m. Monday.
A tornado watch means that conditions are present for tornadoes to form in the watch area, which includes much of northeastern and north-central Kansas.
Showers and thunderstorms are likely Monday, mainly after 3 p.m., the NWS said.The high temperature will be in the uppers 70s, with a more than 70% chance of precipitation. Very large hail and damaging winds will be the main hazards. A few tornadoes will also be possible and flooding risk may rise if storms are slow to move out of the area.
Tuesday morning is expected to start of cloudy, with a 30% chance of storms, then gradually become mostly sunny, with a high near 69.
