A Topeka man was killed in a single-vehicle rollover north of Lawrence on Friday night.

Benjamin Eddie Thomas Brooks, 22, was ejected from a Dodge Ram 1500 pickup in the wreck near Midland Junction, according to a news release from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. Lawrence police found the truck in a field near U.S. Highway 24-59 and North 2000 Road and attempted life-saving measures on Brooks at the scene.

A preliminary report from the sheriff’s crash reconstruction team indicates that Brooks missed the curve, and no evidence suggests other vehicles were involved, according to the release.
