Roadwork in Lawrence and Douglas County

Starting Wednesday, drivers may experience delays from lane reductions on U.S. Highway 59 just south of Lawrence as part of a Kansas Department of Transportation construction project.

In a news release, KDOT said traffic on U.S. 59 between North 1200 Road and the northern K-10 ramps would be reduced to one lane in each direction starting Wednesday. The lane reduction is expected to last until late October, and the ramps onto K-10 will remain open throughout construction.

The release said that the work is part of KDOT’s K-10/South Lawrence Trafficway expansion project, which has been in progress since last October. Crews will be constructing temporary crossovers that will be used in later phases of the SLT project, the release said.
