Two people are dead and a third was critically injured in a shooting on Haskell Avenue on Thursday evening, according to Lawrence police and emergency radio traffic.

The Lawrence Police Department posted on social media that the shooting took place at 1600 Haskell Avenue shortly after 8 p.m. Officers found two people dead on the scene and another person was taken by helicopter to an area trauma center with critical injuries.

According to emergency radio traffic, the person taken by helicopter was a 22-year-old female with a single gunshot wound that entered her back and exited her chest. The radio traffic said she was being taken to the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas.
