A Lawrence man has been charged in Douglas County District Court with raping a 21-year-old woman.

The man, Calistus Chukwuma Ezenwa, 21, faces one felony count of rape and one felony count of aggravated sodomy. The incident is alleged to have happened on Nov. 21, 2024. A report was made to police the same night of the incident around 10:30 p.m., according to the Lawrence Police Department’s call log.

Ezenwa was arrested in connection with the charge on Dec. 20, 2024, at his residence in Jayhawker Towers, 1603 W. 15th St. He is being held at the Douglas County Jail on a $250,000 bond and is next scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 24.

The Journal-World has reached out to the University of Kansas to determine whether Enzenwa is a KU student.
