Tyrone Gipson

A Topeka man has been charged with multiple sex crimes involving a 9-year-old girl.

The man, Tyrone Gipson, 42, is charged in Douglas County District Court with one count of rape for an alleged incident on Nov. 25, 2024, and one count of aggravated criminal sodomy, alleged to have occurred between August and November 2024. Both counts are in connection with the same girl. If convicted on either charge, Gipson faces life in prison in accordance with Kansas law.

The charges against Gipson were filed on Jan. 3. Gipson was arrested in connection with the charges on Feb. 21, in Shawnee County, and was taken to Douglas County Tuesday afternoon, according to the jail booking log.

Gipson is being held on a $250,000 bond.
