Lawrence police on Wednesday were still looking for a driver who crashed into a van and a house, then fled on foot, leaving three people injured.

The incident happened about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday near Ninth and Missouri streets, police said in a social media post.

The driver of a Volkswagen Jetta was heading north on Missouri Street, ran a stop sign and hit a van traveling east on Ninth, according to the post. The impact sent the car into the porch of a nearby home.

The driver took off, and the passenger of that car ended up being transferred to an area trauma center with severe injuries.

The two people in the van were also taken to the hospital, but their injuries weren’t severe.

Officers conducted an extensive search of the area, including launching a drone to help look for the driver of the Jetta, but were unable to locate him overnight.

The homeowner was not home at the time of the crash.
