Lawrence police are investigating on Tuesday an apparent suicide involving a firearm on the trail in Burcham Park.

According to a release from the Lawrence police Department, officers believe there is no threat to the public in connection with the incident. The trail near Burcham Park, 200 Indiana Street is closed.

A large police presence could be seen in the area as drivers crossed the downtown Kansas River bridge, with police tape closing off large portions of the area along the river.
