A 20-year-old Lawrence man was charged Monday with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after he allegedly threatened a woman at a homeless campsite with a handgun.
The charge against Preston Scott Foster stems from a disturbance at a campsite in Sandra J. Shaw Park, but police provided few details beyond saying a man “threatened a woman with a firearm” and the incident is “tangentially related to a domestic incident.” Lawrence police generally decline to provide details related to domestic cases.
Foster was arrested late Sunday morning. A search warrant was granted in the case, police said, and the firearm was recovered from the man’s residence, listed in the jail booking log as the 100 block of Arkansas Street.
