A 22-year-old Lawrence woman’s arm was injured after she was struck by a pickup truck near downtown Lawrence on Tuesday, according to Lawrence police.
Sgt. Drew Fennelly said in an email to the Journal-World that an 81-year-old man was driving a 2016 Chevy Silverado around 2:50 p.m. on Eighth Street. When the truck turned onto Tennessee Street, it collided with a woman who was in the crosswalk.
The woman was taken by Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical crews to the hospital with injuries to her arm that were not life threatening, Fennelly said. He said that the driver remained on scene and was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian; impairment was not believed to have been a factor in the crash.
