Police investigating after man shot, seriously injured in southern Lawrence; two teens in custody

Lawrence police are investigating after a 26-year-old man was shot Monday evening. One teen was arrested in the incident on Tuesday morning, and another would turn himself in later, police said on social media.
Officers were dispatched at 7:45 p.m. to the 3300 block of Iowa Street in reference to a shooting. One victim was taken to the hospital with serious injuries from multiple gunshots to the leg.
Two teens are in custody following the shooting at 3323 Iowa St., the address of Easy Living mobile home park. The victim remained in stable condition Tuesday morning.
Initial reports indicated a drug deal was taking place and allegedly turned into a robbery, police said on social media. Investigators worked through the night to identify witnesses and leads, which led them to a nearby residence, where the suspects were believed to have gone following the shooting. Investigators entered the residence pursuant to a search warrant.
The Lawrence Police tactical team was activated, surrounded the residence, and was able to convince one of the suspects to come out shortly after 3 a.m. Cameron Cooper, 18, of Lawrence, the suspected shooter, was safely taken to the Douglas County Jail on suspicion of aggravated battery, aggravated assault and aggravated robbery.
A 17-year-old suspect was not located at the residence, but police later posted on social media that he had turned himself in on Tuesday afternoon and would be booked into the juvenile detention center on suspicion of aggravated robbery.
