A standoff at Ninth and Delaware streets ended safely Sunday morning after nearly three hours.
Police responded to an apartment building after a neighbor reported a gunshot about 5:30 a.m. and officers heard another gunshot from a second-floor unit when they arrived, according to a social media post from the Lawrence Police Department.
Officers checked on and evacuated other residents in the building and negotiated with a man in the apartment where shots were heard. A team entered the apartment and arrested the man without injury around 8:30 a.m., the post said.
According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office jail log, Conan Paul Brazee was arrested at 900 Delaware St. on suspicion of criminal discharge of a firearm recklessly at an occupied dwelling and interference with law enforcement.
