Lawrence police are investigating an overnight shooting that injured a 17-year-old boy.

Officers were called to the skate park at Edgewood Park just before 1 a.m. Thursday after people heard shots fired and cars speeding away from the area, according to a social media post by LPD.

A 17-year-old, hit in the arm by gunfire, sustained injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.

Police found no victim on arrival at the scene, but did find evidence that a shooting had taken place at the intersection of Maple Lane and Brook Street. Officers then located the shooting victim at a hospital.

Detectives are gathering evidence and the investigation is ongoing.
