Lawrence man charged with rape of teen; 2 others arrested on suspicion of intimidating a witness

A Lawrence man has been charged with the rape of a teenage girl, and two others have been arrested for intimidation of a witness in connection with the same incident.

Mark Brent Lee, 40, is charged in Douglas County District Court with one felony count of rape, one count of aggravated indecent liberties with a child and one felony count of aggravated intimidation of a witness. The indecent liberties incident is alleged to have happened in December 2023. The rape is alleged to have occurred between April and May of 2024, and the intimidation charge relates to an incident on July 21. All three charges relate to the same 14-year-old, according to charging documents.

Two others, Kent William Lee, 44, and Teresa Rebecca Lee, 41, both of Lawrence, were arrested on suspicion of aggravated intimidation of a witness in connection with the incident on July 21. All three individuals were arrested on July 23 around 2:30 p.m. in the 900 block of Lawrence Avenue.

Kent and Teresa Lee were released shortly after their arrest on a $3,000 bond each. Charges have not been filed against either person at this time, but both are scheduled for a bond appearance on Aug. 13, according to the jail booking log.

Mark Lee is being held without bond.
