A Lawrence 17-year-old has died in a single-vehicle crash near Clinton Lake, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s office spokesman George Diepenbrock said that Brody Minton, 17, was found dead on Tuesday near the 900 block of North 1150 Road. Minton was reported missing by his family on Monday, Diepenbrock said, and deputies had searched for his vehicle around Clinton Lake.

Diepenbrock said that shortly after 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, a person called dispatchers after finding the vehicle, a Nissan Altima, in a wooded area east of the 900 block of North 1150 Road. Minton was the only person in the vehicle, Diepenbrock said.

The sheriff’s office crash reconstruction team was investigating the crash, Diepenbrock said.
