Lawrence police say no foul play is suspected after a woman and a dog were found dead in a park on Tuesday.

Police were called around 1:10 p.m. to Sandra J. Shaw Park in north-central Lawrence after a report of a deceased person, said Lawrence Police Sgt. Drew Fennelly in an email to the Journal-World. According to a statement posted on the department’s social media on Tuesday night, officers found the 31-year-old woman and a dog deceased in a tent near a pond. Officers reported a strong odor of propane near the tent, the post said.

The post said officers interviewed several people who knew the woman and that the coroner scene investigation team was brought in to investigate. It said the coroner would determine an official cause of death.

Further details were not immediately available.
