Lawrence police are investigating after a man was found Monday morning in an alley in downtown Lawrence with life-threatening injuries.

The 51-year-old man was found around 8:30 a.m. in an alley in the 700 block of Massachusetts Street, according to a post on social media from the Lawrence Police Department. Police believe the man’s injuries may have been sustained after a fall, and investigators do not suspect criminal activity at this time, though it has not been definitively ruled out, according to an update from the department around 11:30 a.m.

The man was taken to a Kansas City area trauma center. He remains hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.
